Is your school-aged child struggling with big emotions or challenging behaviours — at home, at school, or both?

You don’t have to face it alone.

Beyond Behaviours is a fully funded program made possible through Social Shift in partnership with HBNC.
This initiative provides free play-based therapy and family support for children showing signs of emotional distress, anxiety, or behavioural challenges — including those who are currently homeschooling with the goal of returning to mainstream education.

Our qualified Play Therapists work closely with children and their caregivers to look beyond the behaviour and understand what the child is truly communicating through their actions.

By creating safety, connection, and trust, we help children:

  • Regulate emotions and build self-confidence

  • Strengthen relationships with caregivers and peers

  • Develop resilience and coping strategies

  • Reconnect with play, joy, and hope

Each session is guided by trauma-informed, child-centred principles that honour every child’s voice, pace, and story.

Families also receive practical strategies and emotional support to create calm and lasting positive change at home and beyond.

Every behaviour tells a story — we’re here to help you understand it.

Playing it Forward: Rebuilding Families Program

  • Has your child been affected by family violence, and are you concerned about the long-term impact without early support?

  • Are you noticing troubling behaviours in your child as a result of family violence, and want to take action now to prevent further emotional harm?

  • Do you need support to reconnect with and/or strengthen your bond with your child?

  • Have you sought support but faced barriers such as lack of funding, long waitlists, or other challenges preventing you from accessing therapy?

We are pleased and grateful to announce that, through the Social Shift Funding from the Department of Social Services in partnership with HBNC, we now have the opportunity to support children and families affected by domestic and family violence, at no cost to the family.

Our program, Playing it Forward: Rebuilding Families Program, is specifically tailored to support families exposed to family violence including focusing on both the child impacted and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

This program consists of evidence-based therapeutic supports, including Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT).
